Burnout Scale (BMS)

Measure your level of occupational burnout with the Burn Out Measure Short version (Pines & Aronson). Thinking about your work, evaluate your overall feelings on a scale of 1 (never) to 7 (always).

The BMS scale (Burnout Measure Short) is derived from the work of Christina Maslach and Susan Jackson, researchers in psychology. It evaluates your level of occupational burnout in 10 questions across three dimensions: physical fatigue, emotional exhaustion, and psychological wear. The average score on a scale of 1 to 7 helps determine your burnout risk.

Points forts

  • + Scientifically validated tool recognized internationally
  • + Quick assessment in only 10 questions
  • + Average score is easy to interpret and track over time

Limites

  • - Abbreviated version less precise than the complete MBI (22 questions)
  • - Self-assessment influenced by your emotional state at the moment
  • - Does not distinguish the three dimensions of burnout: exhaustion, depersonalization, reduced sense of accomplishment
