One day, during a consultation, a fifty-five-year-old woman handed me her blood test results with a resigned expression. Osteopenia, early osteoporosis, bone density declining for three years. Her doctor had recommended calcium tablets and vitamin D, without notable results.

The organic calcium in turnip greens (190 mg/100 g) is one of the best bone builders in the plant kingdom, far superior to the calcium in pasteurized dairy products¹. This calcium is accompanied by vitamin K and magnesium, the two essential cofactors for its fixation on the bone matrix². Turnip glucosinolates activate phase II hepatic detoxification enzymes³. This is the juice I prescribe in cases of osteopenia, early osteoporosis, and post-menopausal demineralization⁴.
The organic calcium in turnip greens is the star nutrient of this formula. It’s one of the best bone builders in the plant kingdom, far superior to the calcium in pasteurized dairy products. The greens contain approximately 190 mg of calcium per 100 g, but most importantly, this calcium is accompanied by its natural cofactors: magnesium, vitamin K, and phosphorus, in proportions that the human body recognizes and assimilates effortlessly. This natural synergy is what makes all the difference compared to an isolated tablet. Turnips belong to the crucifer family, rich in glucosinolates with anticancer properties.
The turnip belongs to the crucifer family and contains glucosinolates, precursors of isothiocyanates with anticancer properties. Kaempferol, the major flavonoid in turnips, exerts anti-inflammatory action by inhibiting COX-2 and LOX enzymes: 298-344). Turnip greens (often discarded) contain more vitamin C (60 mg/100g) and calcium (190 mg/100g) than the turnip itself.
Turnip greens are 5 times richer in calcium than the turnip, and their calcium is better absorbed than that from milk. Always blend the greens with the turnip: that’s where the nutrients are concentrated.
Turnip greens are 5 times richer in calcium than the turnip itself, and this calcium is better absorbed than that from milk. Always blend the greens with the bulb: that’s where the nutritional treasures of this forgotten vegetable are concentrated.
